We are available from Monday-Thursday 8:00am to 7:00pm EST. Friday and Saturday 8:00am-5:00pm and Sunday by appointment only.

How can I clean my blinds and shades?

Clean most window shades by dusting regularly and vacuuming lightly, when needed. Always follow the manufacturer’s recommended cleaning methods. Safe methods often include light dusting regularly, which will help to keep mini or 2” horizontal blinds looking great. Occasionally wipe them down with a magic eraser or wet wipes. PVC verticals should be removed from their clips and washed in a tub with soap and water or wet wipes. You can also hire a professional window blind cleaning company.

How do I measure my windows for blinds, and shades?

We prefer to measure your windows for you to ensure a proper fit. At New York State of Blinds we offer a free estimate and our Shop-At-Home service where a window blind installation pro will evaluate and measure your windows.

How do we prepare window area before installer arrives?

There is no preparation needed. Our professional window blind installers will handle everything.

Which should I choose, blinds or shades?

Your choice of custom-made window treatments is decided by taking into consideration their purpose, how much sun comes through the window, what look will fit with your home’s decor and more. Don’t worry. We’ll be there to answer your questions and make sure you have all the information you need to make the right choice.

Should I hire an expert to install my new blinds or shades or can I install them myself?

Yes, you can, if you have the skills needed to do so. When you choose New York State of Blinds, your installation is included in our estimate and is backed by our guarantee.

Does your blinds come with a Warranty?

What is covered:

Operating mechanisms (other than motors and remote controls) and components are covered for the lifetime of the product. Cords and Chains are covered for 3 years, a nominal fee applies for the repair either on- site or return to the manufacturer. Fabrics, motors and remote controls are covered for 5 years.

What is not covered:

Normal wear and tear. Examples of wear and tear include (but are not limited to) fraying, stains, pet damage, exposure to the elements (including heat, sun, wind, water or moisture), and/or material discoloration or fading over time.

Product failure due to improper installation (unless installation services were provided by New York State of Blinds). Abuse, misuse, damage from pets or insects or neglect. Normal variations in color grain or texture of natural products, warping of wood products, and natural color changes to materials that take place over time.

Third-Party Branded Products: Third-party branded products (includes any products not manufactured by NY State of Blinds) are not covered by our warranty but may be repaired for a nominal fee.

Do you teach us how to use and remove our window treatment?

Yes, we will teach you how to correctly operate your blinds or shades and we will also show you how to remove and re-install the blinds as well.

Do I have to purchase from NY State of Blinds for installation?

No, we also offer an installation service to customers who buy their window treatments from other manufacturers. Our service is less expensive than the big box chain stores where they usually outsource their installers, which can be quite expensive for the homeowner.
